Fatigue
Welcome to NE Therapy's ME/CFS Page
So how I would I describe ME\CFS well from my personal experience of suffering it for over 5 years I would say it was living hell and yes it is a real neurological illness.
You might be one of the lucky people that have a doctor or a specialist that actually belief in this illness and are helping you find the answers to your road to recovery.
You might be a carer trying to understand the illness more in order to help.
I personally found ME\CFS very frustrating to say the least, I would wake up every day and feel like I could sleep another week in fact for the first year I was in my bed, I had issues with my stomach, concentration, muscle, memory, sound, vision and many more.
I personally recovered from ME\CFS using the lightning process which is a training programme teaching you to recognise certain negative and destructive process that you go through and it teaches you to take back control using a specific techniques. I started that journey to recovery on 09/05/06 and within five months I was back at work and I believe in it so much I became a trainer so I can help people start their road to recovery. I now have a practice in the North East based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
So What is ME\CFS
It should be explained that there are a number of different names for what is an illness of uncertain cause affecting many thousands of people. Currently it is estimated that some 250,000 people in Britain are affected by this illness.
- Myalgic Encephalopathy or "ME" (a term which The ME Association feels is more appropriate)
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or "CFS"
- Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome or "PVFS"
- Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome or "CFIDS"
All types of people at all ages are affected. Severe and debilitating fatigue, painful muscles and joints, disordered sleep, gastric disturbances, poor memory and concentration are commonplace. In many cases, onset is linked to a viral infection. Other triggers may include an operation or an accident, although some people experience a slow, insidious onset.
Effects
In some, the effects may be minimal but in a large number, lives are changed drastically: in the young, schooling and higher education can be severely disrupted; in the working population, employment becomes impossible for many. For all, social life and family life become restricted and in some cases severely strained. People may be housebound or confined to bed.
Talk to me. I am happy to discuss your condition and help you find what's right for you remember I have had this illness and I understand what you might be going through, there is no obligation so just call.
